Annie Waters

Annie Waters is a Priestess of Isis in both the Fellowship of Isis and Temple of Isis.

She does a lot of community ritual work, giving the locals a chance to do ritual several times a year...see my biography attached.

She also designs and sell spiritual goods with origins in her own spiritual search...Celtic, Minoan, and other ancient symbologies.

Since childhood, Annie spent her days out in the trees, climbing or sitting on rocks, swimming, or riding her bike in the country. In about 1970 she began to use the word "Pantheist" to describe her religion....

The Goddess has come to her in many forms since then, and she began organizing events to share the teachings of the Moon Circle, the Sweat Lodge, Chants and Talking Circles. In 1984 she created her first "Goddess Festival" in Topanga, CA. Ruth Barrett came that day, and truly gave everyone an initiation.

In 1985 Annie began making Goddess Images as jewelry, and her studies of the Ancient Divine Feminine became the background for her artistic work and business. In order to better serve and share these images, she continued to learn about the Goddess all over the world, and over and over discovered Her to be the same Lady of 10,000 Names. She still creates sacred imagery in the context of her ongoing business - Ancient Circles Designs, and Open Circle, Inc.

Major influences incude Starhawk, Marija Gimbutas, Riane Eisler, Morning Glory Zell, Anodea Judith, Ruth Barrett and Joanna Macy.

Annie joined the Church of All Worlds in 1989, and began studying ritual form and the possibility of bridging the world of private group ritual and sacred public ritual-theater. In 1995 shee initiated an annual ritual theater tradition in Willits, usually centered around Samhain and the Winter Solstice. She wrote, produced, directed and priestessed many local public events, with the help of her writing partner, Karina McAbee:

1995- "Winter Solstice Celebration" – circle ritual of song, dance and myth

1996- "A Midwinter's Night Dream" – theater celebration of the history and myths of the Winter Sostice

1997- "The Goddess Speaks" – theater presentation of 13 Goddess Archtypes

1998- The Willits Goddess Festival – full day of speakers, presentations, art, crafts and dance
including the theater piece "The Gifts of the Goddess" – celebrating another 13 Goddesses as Archtypes for our time

1999- "Restoring the Balance" – a review of 1000 years of Western History and the Return of the Goddess
Winter Solstice Spiral Dance – community celebration in circle with fire dancers, masks and song
Goddess 2000 Art Show - a gallery of local women artists celebrating images of the Divine Mother

2000- Winter Solstice Spiral Dance – a seasonal celebration in circle

2001- Summer Solstice Spiral Dance – outdoor spiral and drumming circle in our local park
"Masque of the Goddess" – theater presentation of Masked Goddesses with music and narration
Winter Solstice Spiral Dance – the gift of the Oaks and healing plants, a time for planting new seeds of Life and Future

Annie was honored to be chosen as May Queen for the Isis Oasis Heretics in 2000, and in that year created a number of rituals and sacred theater pieces for her group, as she still does annually.

Her "Patron" Goddess is Brigit, and it was for Her that Annie went to Ireland in 1992, meeting Lady Olivia Robertson for the first time. There, in Huntington Castle, she met her future husband, Brian Weller. Annie was Ordained as Priestess of Brigit in the FOI and also the TOI in October of 2002.

Emergence of the Divine Feminine

Life Force Arts Center invites visual artists to submit their work for “Emergence of the Divine Feminine” a multi - arts festival, September 30 to October 30. to be held in conjunction with the Chicago Artists Month, October 2009.

Life Force Arts Center is Chicago’s space for spiritually based visual, literary and performing art. The Center presents dance, theater, music, performance art, authors and visual artists who work in traditions such as shamanic, goddess, earth-centered, visionary, angelic, yogic and other spiritually uplifting paths.

Life Force Arts Center defines spiritual art as:

1) art that flows from spiritual practice,

2) art that strives to connect the audience with Spirit, or

3) art that creates spiritual healing, transformation or awakening.

In May the center hosted the 1st Annual Chicago Festival of Spiritual Art which began our official exploration of what spiritual art is and presented a range of spiritual art from different perspectives. Emergence of the Divine Feminine continues the exploration focusing on a theme that is becoming more present in our current culture and mass consciousness.

The festival and visual art show will take place in the 1200 square feet main space and the smaller front gallery room.

What is the Divine Feminine? The Divine Feminine can simply be defined as the female aspect of God or the Divine. Manifestations of the Divine Feminine are often expressed as, but not limited to: Goddess, Great Mother, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, Divine Mother of the Universe.

What are the different ways the Divine Feminine is expressed through art? What is happening now that is different from the past regarding the Divine Feminine? How are individuals experiencing the Divine Feminine within their own conscious awareness and feelings? What are the qualities that express the Divine Feminine? We will be reviewing different perspectives on this theme and also will consider how the current “emergence” of the Divine Feminine is influencing the arts.

Our preference is for art that is spiritually uplifting, inspirational, healing, transforming, and connects the viewer to the experience of the Divine Feminine.
